VEG OUT - Our vegan foodies guide to Byron Bay

One of our weaknesses when travelling is definitely eating out at all of the gorgeous eateries available. Having been to Byron several times and my partner frequently since he was a child, we knew that we would be in for some discipline whilst staying here, when it came to eating out. We ended up both getting great work opportunities that fitted in with how long we were wishing to stay in the town. So we took the positions and started our new short term location. We ended up staying in Byron for over three months and absolutely loved it. Byron is always vibrant and buzzing. Yet it still has a chilled and slow down vibe, at the same time. We certainly caved in and had our fair share of eat outs. From quick smoothie stop offs with the scooter to weekend long brunch favorites and sneaky burger nights out. So here are some of our all time favorites that we would return to over and over again. Healthy and delicious dine out meals that your body and the environment will love.

NO BONES - 11 Fletcher St, Byron Bay

@nobonesbyronbay

Favourite dishes ‘‘King Prawns’’ & ‘‘Calamari”

If you like the idea of a night out with exceptional plant based food, great ambience, friendly service and spot on cocktails, then this is the spot for you. No Bones sets itself apart from many others in this town. I had the absolute pleasure of working for this business while we stayed in Byron for the summer. It was so lovely to be part of such a passionate and talented team. With two inspiring female owners, showing us how it is done. A large amount of the menu is designed to have the option of a Tapas experience. Making it so easy for a large group of friends or an intimate dinner for two to enjoy a feast together. Which is personally, by far, my favourite way of dining. Nobody misses out at this restaurant. With all dishes bursting with flavour and easily comforting everybody’s tastebuds. Creating 100% plant based, locally sourced, seasonal & organic meals such as ‘‘calamari”, ‘‘duck pancakes”, “Fish and chips”, ‘‘prawn tacos”, “macaroni and cheese” and so much more. No Bones also proudly incorporates the use of all sustainable and biodegradable resources throughout the entire restaurant. Tucked away only a few minutes walk from the hustle and bustle of Byron town life, No Bones is a true gem. But it is quickly making a name for itself with extremely high ratings. Do you and your friends or family a favour and make sure to stop in to this beautiful restaurant. Whether you are a vegan, a meat eater or perhaps just curious, nobody will be disappointed or left hungry after this visit. Enjoy!

FOLK - 1/399 Ewingsdale Rd

@folkbyronbay

Favourite dishes/drink - Almond Milk Matcha Latte & Vegan Burrito

As soon as you reach this beautiful café you instantly feel the warm, homely, inviting and relaxed atmosphere that they have created. You will want to relax amongst their beautiful seating and chilled tunes in the sun for hours. I can definitely see how this little spot is a favourite for the locals and visitors also. Located about five minutes drive from the heart of the Byron centre, Folk ticks all the boxes. With creative vegan breakfast and lunch dishes sure to satisfy any customer. Every meal and drink is beautifully presented, which sometimes I feel just makes them taste that little bit better. I adored their Vegan Burrito dish, which I have heard is becoming a bit of a famous dish for them. With large servings and great variety, even the fussiest customer will have no problems with this menu. So grab your friends and fur babies and enjoy a long brunch visit in the sun with some expectational dishes.

Osushi - 15/90-96 Jonson St

Favourite dishes - Vegan Delight Special & Steamed Seasonal Greens Vegetarian Broth

The best sushi in the town, if you ask me. With a large, stunning contemporary dinning experience, Osushi offers customers with a relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere. Their ingredients are of high quality with no MSG and are all organic and locally sourced. The menu caters for vegans and vegetarians, providing several options. Which I find can be hard to come across in Sushi restaurants, knowing that fish is the clear staple. The value for what you receive is amazing, with large servings, full of fresh flavour. With the beautifully designed modern interior, the large space has also been created with an entertaining sushi train. With talented chefs and friendly staff adding to the experience. There is absolutely no surprise why this restaurant is award winning and it will most certainly satisfy all of your Japanese cravings.
